Building Construction Professional (BCP)

If your NDIS-funded home modifications are likely to be complex and costly, it’s best to involve a Building Construction Professional (BCP) from the start.

The BCP will work with you and your Occupational Therapist (OT) during the design, quoting, and application phases of the Complex Home Modification (CHM) process to ensure the proposed design suits your needs and works with the existing environment.

As your BCP, our role includes:
- Collaborating with you and your OT to develop a design solution that meets your needs
- Creating concept drawings of the existing building and proposed modifications
- Developing the scope of works
- Sourcing builder’s quotes

The information we provide can form part of a CHM application to the NDIS.

Building Works Project Manager (BWPM)

Funding for a Building Works Project Manager (BWPM) to oversee the construction stage of the project can be requested by your Occupational Theapist (OT) and Building Construction Professional (BCP) during the complex home modification (CHM) application process. A BWPM will ensure the project follows the design scope and meets required standards. You can ask your BCP to also be your BWPM if they have the right skills for the project.

Involvement from both a BCP and a BWPM during the CHM process helps ensure the best outcome and offers value for money by reducing errors, cost variations, and time delays.
